Besides the decorative aspect, window dressings can benefit your home and each room in many different ways: provide privacy, offer draft exclusion, filters daylight, assist with acoustic levels and allow us to control light into our home. 

Window dressings come in a variety of forms and materials. Which one suits your room?

Window Scarf

Trailing fabric placed along pole. Can be placed over drapes but above examples show the modern way to use scarves.

Curtains / Drapes

Curtains.interiordezine.com and The Natural Curtain Company offer explanations of the different types and style of curtains.

Plantation Shutters & Blinds
Blinds are made to measure, whereas Plantation Shutters are pre-made.

Lambrequins
Both the top pelmet board and the sides are attached, creating a box frame; unlike a pelmet which is only attached at the top.

Pull-down Roller Shades
Can be decorated with curtains to front.

Roman Blinds
The blinds are open and closed by a pulley-system.

Valances
Valances can be boxed and span the length of the curtail rail.

Window Films
Can add a stained glass effect or city landscape.
